McDonald's - activating a journey for the tastebuds
McDonalds Great Tastes of America

Five weeks, five great tastes... Sequential food promotion events are a key part of the McDonald's proposition, meeting the needs of their customers for variety and premium new flavours.

Our CRM strategy for this year's campaign focused on activating premium burger advocates with a preview of the new range direct to their inbox, and then re-targeting key audience segments based on their response, to sustain their engagement with the sequence of internationally-inspired flavours.

With broadcasts timed to hit key day-parts and device-optimised email executions used to maximise open and click through rates from young adults on the move, the campaign drove incremental traffic to the brand's owned media platforms, and scored a 10 to 1 return on media investment.

With it's Cruise Line offering overshadowed by the land based resorts of Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Disneyland Paris, Disney Destinations International briefed Armadillo to develop an acquisition campaign to drive brochure requests, and feed prospects in to the conversion and retention CRM journeys already in place.

Our solution was to create a set of limited edition lithographs featuring popular Disney characters, offered free for a limited period to all customers ordering a brochure. A simple but beautifully effective incentive: of high perceived value, with strong appeal to our target audience of Disney fan families, yet inexpensive to produce and with minimal incremental fulfilment cost.

We developed an online media campaign, deployed across the network, and leveraged the wider Disney database through an eCRM campaign to promote the incentive. The results exceeded all expectations - lithographs and brochures "sold out" within 14 days, bringing a pool of highly qualified prospects on to the database ready for conversion.
